The property blends historic charm with expansive West Coast scenery - one moment you're standing beneath towering evergreens, the next you're looking across sweeping mountain views with the river weaving quietly through the background.

Rowena's Inn on the River, the heritage manor at the centre of the property, is where a lot of the day happens. It's become one of the Fraser Valley's most beloved wedding venues for a reason.

Practical notes for couples weighing it: most guests will want to stay overnight, which is worth building into your budget conversation early. Harrison Hot Springs is close by if the on-site rooms fill up. And the drive out is genuinely beautiful, which matters more than people expect on a wedding morning.

The Best Time of Year to Get Married at Sandpiper

Jaye-Lynn and Keldan chose early autumn, and photographically it's hard to beat.

Late September into October

is the strongest window here. The light gets low and warm through the afternoon, the mountains behind the property start picking up early snow while the valley is still turning colour, and the summer haze that softens the mountain views in July and August has cleared out.

You also get a longer usable golden hour in autumn than in midsummer, because the sun sets at a shallower angle. In practice that means a relaxed portrait window instead of a frantic twenty minutes.

Late spring,

in May and June, is the other strong option - everything is aggressively green and the river runs high.

What to plan around: this is the Fraser Valley, so autumn brings rain. Any couple marrying here in October should have a genuine indoor plan they'd actually be happy with, not a reluctant backup. Rowena's interiors and the ballroom photograph beautifully, so a wet day here is a different look rather than feeling like you've lost out.

How We Shot This Day - Two Photographers, One Story

As Fraser Valley and Vancouver wedding photographers, we're always drawn to days that let people actually experience their wedding instead of performing it.

This one had room for that. Space to breathe, to connect, for moments to unfold on their own.

We both shot this day - Hannah and Jacob, working the wedding as two photographers rather than one. That's the single biggest practical difference in what a gallery ends up holding, and it's worth explaining what it actually buys you.

It means being in two places at once, all day. One of us with Jaye-Lynn as she got ready, one with Keldan. One catching the whole room's reaction as she came down the aisle while the other stayed tight on Keldan's face during the vows. Those two frames exist in the same minute, and no single photographer can make both.

It also means nobody has to choose. A solo shooter spends the day making quiet trade-offs - cover the speech or the grandmother listening to it, the first dance wide or close. With two of us, those stop being decisions.

Practically, the rest of our approach was restraint. We stayed back through the ceremony and let the venue do the work; the forested aisle needed no help from us. During portraits we moved between the treed pathways and the open mountain views to get range in the gallery without marching them around the property. Through the reception we worked the room quietly rather than staging anything.

Our goal is always imagery that feels elevated and artful without losing the humanity of the day or the personality of our couples.
