We're obsessed with the long tree-lined drive. The dramatic architecture makes our jaw drop every time. The way the light moves across the course as evening settles in is somehow dramatic and soft all at the same time. Everything about it feels expansive in the most romantic way.
Josh & Laura's wedding was the kind of day that reminds us why we love documenting weddings through both photography and film. Not because every detail was perfectly polished. But, because, beneath all the beauty, was this emotional steadiness that carried through the entire day. It's a steadiness both Josh & Laura live in and manifest in everything they do - even through the wondrous chaos of a grand wedding.

Where Swaneset Sits, and Why the Light Is Different Out Here
Swaneset is in Pitt Meadows, out in the Fraser Valley, with the Golden Ears mountains sitting to the north and open farmland stretching in every direction. That geography does something to the light that we don't get shooting in the city.
You're far enough from Vancouver that the haze drops off. The mountains stop being a soft suggestion in the background and become an actual feature you can build a frame around.
For couples working out logistics: it's about 45 minutes from Vancouver and 20 minutes from Langley, which means your guests can get there from across the Lower Mainland without the downtown parking situation. Maple Ridge is right next door if people need somewhere to stay. And honestly, the drive out along the Lougheed through the valley is beautiful on its own.
The Best Time of Year to Get Married at Swaneset
If you're planning a Swaneset wedding and you have flexibility on your date, late summer into early fall is the strongest window photographically.
August through October gives you a golden hour that hits the open course and the mountain views in a way that feels almost unfair. September is our favourite of the three — you tend to get clearer skies than August while still holding onto that warmth, the valley starts shifting into early fall colour, and you get a slight cool-down so you're not stuck sweating through a 30-degree day.
Spring works beautifully too. Late May and June, the valley greens up fast and the mountains still have snow sitting on the peaks, which gives you a striking contrast in the wide landscape shots.
July can be gorgeous, but the light gets harsh through the middle of the day. If you're planning an outdoor ceremony in July, your timing matters more than it would in September.
One thing we'd tell every couple shooting here: give us the hour before sunset for your portraits. The evening light moving across the course from the west with the mountains behind you is one of the most naturally cinematic settings in the Lower Mainland. It requires almost no direction from us to look incredible.

The Day Itself
Swaneset feels simultaneously elegant and grounded, giving couples space for both large-scale moments and quieter intimacy throughout the day.

- Emotional moments during getting ready - the matriarchs of the family gathering to pray over Laura, fathers watching their children with the kind of pride you only catch when nobody is performing for the camera
- A ceremony with music arranged exclusively by friends of the bride and groom, and sermons that moved souls
- Elegant garden portraits beneath soft summer light, where Josh & Laura got to bask in one another for a few minutes in the middle of their own wedding day
- The dances and traditions celebrating their shared culture and warmth
- A reception filled with the kind of energy that slowly builds until the dance floor completely takes over (and we mean COMPLETELY)
When Laura's sisters stood up to give their speeches, the room went from laughing to crying and back again in about ninety seconds. That's the kind of moment that lives in your chest for years.
The entire day moved with this beautiful sense of rhythm. Nothing was forced - just people fully immersed in celebrating two people they deeply loved.
